Corpus Christi Association of REALTORS is on Facebook

Since I promote joining social networking site such as Facebook and MySpace for developing business relationships and to create networking opportunities I decided to practice what I preach and join Facebook. I decided on Facebook due to the fact that Facebook is known for a more business like atmosphere and has a large network worldwide. If you have a Facebook account please join as a Fan so we can create an online network of REALTORS and work together. If you do not have a Facebook account I strongly suggest creating an account and joining. Facebook has many advantages and can provide many networking opportunities to your for free.

Scam Alert

Caution: Property managers - Be aware that there is a person who is trying to pull a scam in our area.

This is a person posing as a doctor from Colorado - asking to rent a condo for his honeymoon.

He will send a check to secure or pay for the condo ahead of time. The check is from a hospital in Colorado Springs.

The check is for more than the condo rental, and he then wants you to send him the monies over the cost of the rental.

Scam Alert

Jury Duty Scam

This has been verified by the FBI (their link is also included below). Please pass this on to everyone in your email address book. It is spreading fast so be prepared should you get this call. Most of us take those summonses for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty, that a new and ominous kind of fraud has surfaced.

The caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so h e or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Give out any of this information and bingo; your identity was just stolen.

The fraud has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma , Illinois , and Colorado. This (swindle) is particularly insidious because they use intimidation over the phone to try to bully people into giving information by pretending they are with the court system. The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their web sites, warning consumers about the fraud.

New Technology - SofTokens

Dear Realtors:

Thank you for your response to our token insurance e-mail. We do; however, have a new option for you - A soft token program. Please know this new soft token program was implemented after we sent out the previous insurance e-mail. And we need to tell you about it, and then let you make the choice for yourself.

Currently you have a physical MLS token. And you have two options concerning that token.

You may either keep this token and pay $8.66 for token insurance; or you may have your token programmed on your e-key or active key, and pay $49.95 – a one-time fee. This is the soft token program. If you choose this program, it will eliminate the physical token.

The choice is yours: Keep the physical token or implement the soft token program on your phone.

If you keep your token, please know that you are NOT required to have insurance. That is also your choice.

Please call or e-mail Loretta and let her know if you prefer to keep the safe MLS token or if you prefer the soft token program e-key or active key. Please decide which is best for you and respond to Loretta as soon as possible.
You may reach her at Loretta@ccaronline.com/361-991-8221

Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.
